In line with the recommendations of the House of Lords' Complementary & Alternative Medicine report backin 2000 the British Acupuncture Federation is the first collaborative umbrella organisation of leading professional acupuncture associations within the UK.
The federation includes groups that represent both Western medical and other traditional styles of acupuncture practice, so enabling the public to make an informed choice as to the most appropriate type of treatment .
The federation provides a united voice for acupuncture practitioners of varied methodologies of practice. The British Acupuncture Federation supports the choice of the public to be able to access the use of acupuncture by NHS healthcare professionals e.g. doctors, physiotherapists, and nurses as well as other registered independent practitioners.
