British Acupuncture Federation will be what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We only collect basic personal data about you which does not include any special types of information, this does however include name, address, email, phone number and qualifications plus any information that is filled in on the health questionnaires for in class treatments.
Why we need your data:
We need to know your basic personal data in order to provide you with ongoing organisational updates and course information plus to keep a record of your qualifications for our own and for your records but also for insurance purposes for treatments done on site under our supervision. We will not collect any personal data from you we do not need in order to provide and oversee this service to you.
We need to keep any health records for the purpose of safety checks and continuity of treatments done in class.
What we do with your data:
All the personal data we process is processed by our staff in the UK, however for the purposes of IT hosting and maintenance this information is located on servers within the UK. No 3rd parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so. We have a Data Protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data.
How long we keep your data:
We are required under UK law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for as long as we need it for membership records. On cancellation or failure to renew your membership, the date will be kept for a maximum of 4 weeks in order to allow for disputes after which it will be destroyed. The only reason data may be kept for longer than this period is if there is a dispute in process.
